Son of the Mob

Seventeen-year-old Vince's life is constantly complicated by the fact that he is the son of a powerful Mafia boss, a relationship that threatens to destroy his romance with the daughter of an FBI agent.

  1. I got this book Thursday afternoon, and began reading it Friday morning at a doctor's appointment and I finished it by the time the evening rolled around. I always saw this book on the shelf and I thought what a weird cover, that book must stink, but now that I have read it I want to read the sequel. It was a really fantastic book. I was surprised Vince waited that long to tell her. It made me think about Agent Bite-Me and how it sounded like Blightly. I thought about the other Agents that his dad talked to, and what names they sounded like. It was slightly romantic but had a nice twist, so it wasn't your typical Romeo and Juliette romance. Over all it was a great book and I would recommend it to any and everyone. It just goes to prove that you CAN'T judge a book by it's cover!

  3. I give this book an excellent thumbs up! As H2Smith said, it wasn't your average romance novel, but it had just enough to keep you pleased. Vince (commonly known as the mob prince) plays the troubled young son of a mob king who is always up to his neck in crime. Vince has never wanted to get involved in his dads work, but once he starts to run into trouble he becomes one of the mob with a girlfriend who's dad is the absolute opposite; an FBI agent! This book portrays a slightly milder Bonnie and Clyde. i would absolutely recommend this book!

  4. Out of the three books I read “Son of the Mob” was by far my favorite. What really pulled me over was the great use of situational irony. I found myself rooting for Vince and Kendra’s relationship. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what Vince did next to avoid telling his family. The ending left me wanting to read more and I can’t wait to read the sequel.

  5. This book was one of my favorites out of the three books I've read in Readers' Choice. Though I would only recommend this for more mature readers, I think most readers my age would enjoy this read. It was such a good book it only took me a couple days to finish it. It always kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing what Vince would do; especially since his first real girlfriend's dad is the FBI agent trying to put his own father in jail! I am definitely reading the sequel.

  6. This was a fantastic book. I really root for the relationship between Vince and Kendra. It protrays Romeo and Juliette in the "I'd do anything for your love" sort of way. Anthony Luca wasn't my favorite character, because he was scolding his sonn for getting into his business. Isn't that what he wanted? Being the mob prince must be difficult, but I give a thumbs-up to Vince for dealing with it. I really want to read the sequel now.

  7. This book really surprised me. I thought it was going to be terrible, but it turned out to be fantastic. I was really surprised how it all turned out. In the book everyone seemed to think the other was some monster, but really they all had kind hearts and did everything for the good of the family, and that is a love that you cannot buy. At the beginning of the book I thought all of the relationships lacked understanding, but at the end, everyone understood each other, and that's why it had a good ending. Thumbs up for this book.

  8. If your a gangster at heart raise your hand. I know that under my studious surface I enjoy the odd gang war and the risk of running gangs. Well this book incorporates it very well. The danger of having a father in the mob in every day life. Now when you throw in the FBI officer whos monitoring your familys daughter we have the classic Romeo Juliet scenario...except now with laundering money, piracy, shoot outs, robbery, and grand theft auto and this not only fits it to a modern audience with the action but all in all make it an amazing story. If you hate gangsters and hate crime and want the main character to die horrible, well I really wouldn't recommend this book. But if you want to step into the world of the mob and experience it from the safety of the pages by all means I 100% recommend this book.

  9. When I first started to read this book, I honestly thought it was going to be lame. I made myself continue reading it, and I ended up not being able to put it down! I really like how the author kept me interested by the mixture of romance and suspense. However, in the beginning I didn't like how I didn't know what was going on. I felt like I missed something. I finished this book in a day, and I started to read it again afterwards!

  10. This book really surprised me! I wasn't looking forward to reading Son of the Mob, but once I started reading I was hooked! The use of dramatic irony in this novel is what really had me on the edge of my seat. So many things happened that other people didn't know about, and that just caused more problems for all of the characters! With the combination of Kendra not knowing that Vince's family is in the mob, and Vince "accidentaly" getting involved in the family buisness, I was a wreck reading this book. The romance was wonderful and I found myself really rooting for Vince and Kendra's relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the sequel.

    1. I agree completely! My thoughts were the same. I thought this was going to be about the mob and boring, but I loved all the romance and drama. I also am looking forward to reading the second book

  11. This is definitely my favorite out of the three books I read. I really loved all the character development in the story, especially Vince and Kendra's. I like how it was a little reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, and had a funny parts in it as well. I enjoyed this book, and will probably read the sequel.

  12. This book was great! It was my favorite out of the three books I had to read. I love to read books with romance in them, Vinces love life had many ups and downs, I just couldn't put the book down because I was waiting for Vince and Kendra to break up. I suspected that Vince's uncle would be the antagonist throughout the book but when it was revealed at the end I was very upset. I recommend this book to everyone, it was just that good, and I'm looking forward to read the sequel too.

  13. I absolutely loved this book! It was so detailed and suspensful and the characters' situations were excruciating. In Vince and Kendra's position, I found it relating to Shakespeare's famous Romeo and Juliet. I loved the action and the funny moments in the story. I would definitely let any friend read this.

I really loved how I could connect with all of the characters' emotions and feelings. I also really loved how the book was fast paced and never left me straying off! I would definitely recommend this book to a friend and I plan on reading the sequel!

  17. I really enjoyed this book. I've never read a love story with gangs involved. It was a nice change from the regular love stories. This book is very entertaining with action and plot twists. I can't wait to read the next one. I think anybody could read this book, girl or boy. Guys will like the gang aspect of the story more then girls. This is a five star rating!! I was very pleased with this read.

  18. I really loved this book! I can say that the first few chapters weren't appealing to me but as I progressed through the story, the story got better and better. There was a good deal of suspense and romance, who could go wrong with that? Though this is a mature read and I recommend it to people who enjoy those type of books. I also recommend the sequel but it was not as good as the first one.

  19. I really enjoyed this book! It wasn't all that appealing to me in the first few chapters but as the plot unfolded, I was on the edge of my seat. It was full of suspense and romance, who could go wrong with that? Though it was more of a mature read and I recommend it to people who like these kind of books. I will also recommend the sequel but it was not better than the first one.

  20. The Son of the Mob is a fascinating novel. Its a mixture of mystery, romance, and action. I suggest only mature readers read this book, because of all the details and language. Besides this minor set back, the book is perfect for boys and girls looking to finally find that book they have always been looking for. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

  21. This book is my favorite of all the books I read. The characters were always facing new drama and problems. This book is great for both boys and girls to read. I was not sure if I was going to like it but I was proven wrong within the first few chapters. I will be picking up the sequel to this because it was such an interesting read.

  22. I didn't really like this book. I know it's a romance book, but 25% of the book is just Vince interacting with one girl or another, and I thought that was a little too much. There wasn't much character development. I liked how the plot progressed, and the confrontations between Vince and his dad were usually pretty entertaining. Vince didn't seem very intelligent, especially concerning his website. I didn't really like his personality, either, which made it hard for me to keep reading the book. But I was happy for him at the end of the book.

  23. This was my favorite of the three books I read. The imagery in this book was so descriptive that I could see almost every part of it in my mind. From beginning to end it was just one surprise after another, each one more suspenseful that the last. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone, as long as their 13 or older.

  24. This was a truly fantastic piece of literature. The way the plot twist is just thrown in your face at the end is quite a shocker but you have to accept it (for the record if you do read this book then do not look at any of the pages further in the book; the story will be ruined). I especially enjoyed the comedic ventures of Alex and it would be a contest as to who is my favorite character between him and Vince. I give this book a 10 out of 10 and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a highschool romance book with a bit of suspense and minor action involved.

  25. This was a very exciting book. It was interesting to see how the mob affected the life of a family member of the mob boss. This book kept you interested throughout the entire story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes love stories or gangster books.
